The goal of Movement Church is to make disciples. This happens in several different contexts; one of them is Community Groups. We talk about the vision for these Groups using three words … Share-Seek-Serve

ShareSharing is the foundation for this context of discipleship. So a CG is a group of people who are sharing life together; we call that living in community. The groups meet for intentional time of community once a week, and whatever comes through the door - good, bad or ugly - gets shared by the whole group … food, responsibilities, joys, good news, funny stories, kids, worries, needs, ideas for mission, celebrations, and dreams. When we all show up for a meeting it’s like we all get in a circle, lock arms, look at each other and say “we’re in this together, no one here is gonna try to tough it out alone.” This kind of sharing requires an environment of unconditional acceptance, and humble honesty … a willingness to give, and also to receive.

SeekWe believe that honest Sharing will lead to earnest Seeking. As we offer unconditional acceptance to one another, and share honestly something will important and scary will happen – our insecurities will come to the surface. This is when we look to the One who created us, look to His love for our security, seek His wisdom and direction for our lives, and ask Him how to live out the kind of life He has designed for us. The Bible is the place where we interact with God and the truth He has given to guide us. Then we pray for each other and trust God to give us the courage to follow the guidance He has given!

Serve … As we share life and seek God we become more grateful for His unconditional grace, and more aware of His calling to show it to others … then we’re ready to serve others! As we are filled with joy and peace we are equipped to overflow with hope (Romans 15:13). That overflow is felt in our city through service. Serving others is done both in personal ways, looking for opportunities with the people we encounter throughout the day; and also intentionally through planned mission projects in the city. Wherever it is done, it is our desire to serve both with actions and with words. We serve others through the demonstration of the Gospel, and the declaration of the Gospel!
